Stavanger, November 3, 2025 — ØS Varme AS, Norway's leading supplier of underfloor heating and heating cables for snow and ice melting, and EQON AS, a Norwegian technology company with a patented method for stepless heating cable management, are now entering into close cooperation. The goal is to offer the market's most energy-efficient and intelligent system for managing electric heating systems - where customers not only have huge savings on their electricity bill, but can also earn money from participating in the power flexibility market.
Intelligent heating with full view
Through the collaboration, ØS Varme and EQON deliver a complete solution where the EQON TC32 IoT provides stepless and precise control of heating cables from ØS Heating. The system communicates directly with EQON Online, a cloud-based control system that gives users a full view of operation, temperature and energy consumption — no matter where they are. The solution makes it possible to connect the plant directly to the customer's own peak systems (BMS, SD plants or energy monitoring systems), so that heat management becomes a natural part of a holistic energy platform.
Energy savings and new revenue opportunities
EQON's stepless control technology significantly reduces energy consumption by avoiding unnecessary power peaks, while keeping the system at a stable temperature for optimal operation. In addition, the cooperation opens up something completely new in the market: customers can now participate in the backup power market, and get paid to make parts of their heating system available during periods of high or low load in the power grid. This makes the solution not only energy efficient, but also economically profitable for the end customer.
